German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel was arguably the most talented and resourceful of Hitler's generals--certainly the most successful. In the early 1940s, Rommel's Afrika Korps dominated North Africa and later his personal oversight of the strengthening of the French coast cost the allies dearly. But as the tide and fortune of the war turned and he came to the personal realization that Hitler--to whom he had sworn allegiance--was destroying Germany, his ingrained sense of duty pushed him into a conspiracy against Hitler. James Mason stars as the famous field marshal with Jessica Tandy as his wife, with Cedric Hardwicke as a fellow conspirator. Outstanding film.
