A writer's fictional alter-ego wants to take over his life...at any price. This is a very good Stephen King adaptation. The acting is top-notch, with Timothy Hutton playing the under-successful novelist, Thad Beaumont, as well as the wildy successful 'Dark Half' George Stark. When the secret gets out that Thad Beaumont is George Stark, Thad buries George, but George isn't going to go quietly. Stephen King wrote the novel this movie was based upon partly due to similar circumstances in his own life. Stephen King wrote numerous novels under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, and when it was released that they were the same person, Stephen King buried Bachman, whom he said died of cancer of the pseudonym. Interestingly, Stephen King continues to publish novels "written" by Richard Bachman, that Bachman's widow sometimes finds hidden away in his personal effects.
